Flemington 5 October 2024 Tips

Flemington racecourseWe’re back to Melbourne this week for the TAB Turnbull Stakes Day at Flemington. The rail is +9m the entire circuit and the track is current rated a Good 4. Flemington’s long home straight can make it hard to lead the whole way, but with plenty of room and a sweeping final bend, runners are rarely disadvantaged anywhere.

Kicking off the day with Race 1, Tab We’re On (1200m) and we’re coming down on the side of the favourite Moby Dick. Its difficult to know how horses will handle the straight six at Flemington, but this son of Toronado (IRE) steps up from a last start win over the 1100m here.

Three starts for two wins over the distance, second up with a 100% strike rate, and drawn nicely in 9 ticks all the boxes for us. Damien Lane keeping the ride for Mick Price and Michael Kent Junior is an added bonus. Look for Wolfy to be running on late.

The Cirka Danehill Stakes (1100m) is Race 5, and we’re hoping for a little more cut in the track by this stage to favour the Snowden trained Bodyguard. First up (2:2) after an eye-catching Rosehill trial, the I Am Invincible colt is undefeated at Flemington and the 1100m, and with a little luck should be hitting the line strongly late.

First Settler looks a potential danger, however we’d prefer to see him drawn away from the inside rail.

Race 7 is The Lexus Bart Cummings over 2520m and we have a big field of 20 runners with quite a few in our black book. In what looks to be a competitive race, we’re hoping the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained Point King comes home strongly. He’s one win from one start over the track and distance, three wins from seven starts on a good track, and boasts a 45% career strike rate.

Manzoice could be a potential value runner if the track starts to soften.

Good luck punters and remember to gamble responsibly.
